The Boyz!

Here are our new boyz, Cody and his son, Chance. We got them from the Arizona Golden Retriever Connection. They'd been in the rescue and their foster home for 9 months. The folks in this rescue organization are terrific and we really like the foster parents. They all work so hard to help every dog they can.

This is Cody on the left with the white on his muzzle. In the center, they are still wearing their "Adopt Me" bandannas. They don't need them now! Chance is on the right. He looks normal here but he is one CRAZY three-legged canine boy! No wonder Cody has a white muzzle with a son like Chance. He has NO clue that only having three legs is not normal. He's a happy, nutty boy with way too much energy. Cody is a love bug, always looking for a chance to come over and lay his head in your lap and spend some quality time. Chance is very loving too but in a different, much more energetic way. They greet us very enthusiastically every time we come home. Chance usually brings a toy with him and wiggles so much that I'm always surprised that he doesn't fall down!

A little is known about their background because the rescue folk met some people who knew the dogs before. They'd been found wandering at a busy city intersection and brought to the rescue because the woman who found them could not keep them. Chance had a useless right front leg that it seems he got when he was leashed in the back of a pickup truck and jumped out. His leg was mangled and while it might have been saved with appropriate medical attention, he didn't get it and by the time the rescue got them, it was too late. Cody has Valley Fever but treatment has helped him cope with that. They're wonderful dogs and we feel lucky to have them. We were in love with them as soon as we met them.

We're looking forward to a long, happy life with our boys. And they'll NEVER NEVER EVER ride in the back of an open truck again. NOT happening!
