How disappointing is this???

Because I'm crazy and I belong to a zillion Yahoo art groups, I sign up for a bazillion swaps. So ages ago when January seemed light years away, I signed up for a charm swap on the Art Unraveled group(you know, that summer art thing I go exhaust myself and my checkbook at every August). I love the look of this jewelry and the charms people make. Surely I could learn to make one by then and make it 26 times. OK, so I learned to make one. I even had a great idea and spent a lot of time shopping for just the right materials. I found something a little different in a shop to replace what I had intended to use in the first place, which just made it all seem like it was serendipitously coming together in some cosmic way which surely meant that I'd be done in time and get these puppies in the mail.

Sometime after Christmas and before New Years, I realized that I had bitten off quite a lot more than I was meant to be able to chew and that I'd need to get super-organized if I hoped to get all of it done. So for my swaps, I printed out the info sheets on each one and put them on my worktable as well as on my computer's desktop and entered not only the due dates in my Outlook calendar, but reminders that I needed to get busy on them and when I needed to mail them. I put the supplies in little plastic boxes in my workroom. I lost the boxes. I found them again. I messed up the entire room and then cleaned it several times. My mom came to stay and took over the room, thinking that it actually was the guest room that some purport it to be. (Silly people.)

The dogs helped by deciding to be my inspiration. They lounge on the floor in there, sleeping so peacefully that you'd have to be completely heartless to wake them up to make them move so you could do something like maybe move your foot an inch to get the blood circulating again. Silly stuff like that. I can't even roll my chair on the chair mat because Chance has decided that the safest place for his head and ears is under the chair. They are so beautiful and so trusting that I don't want to wake them up just because both of my legs are asleep and my butt is quickly getting there. Therefore I must get lots done while I'm in there, a virtual prisoner of my beautiful canine supervisors/companions.

I actually got quite a lot done, not least of which was all 26 charms for the swap. So tonight I go to find the mailing info, just in the nick of time, I might add. And what do I discover? I discover that I now need 27 charms and to package them with an ATC sized card, telling about me and it. Well, that one ain't happening because I just finished packing all 26 of my charms in little 2" x 2" plastic zip bags with a little folded strip of paper giving the name of the charm, my name, my email address, my blog address, and my website.

So now I'm about to traipse back in there to make charm #27. It isn't bad enough that I actually broke a tooth getting the lid off my bottle of Diamond Glaze so that I could unclog it. Now I have to be one lousy charm short! All I can say is that these charms had better be worth this!

Really.
