This sure is a fortuitous coincidence. I'm thinking about going to bed, but before I do, I'm checking out Artella's daily LinkLatte (an email they send you everyday) and it led me to this blog by a gal named tine, and it has a challenge every Friday. So it's Friday and I just so happen to have found a cool new-to-me gallery today and so I have also found a really cool couple of artists whose work I really like. And is it a coincidence or what but the challenge for this Friday is to write about a new artist you've found whose work you like or admire or who inspires you in some way.
So the gallery is The William Lester Gallery in Point Reyes Station, California, about 30 minutes north of SF. I really like all of his artists' work, but there are two whom I particularly like.
Mountain Meadow
Firstly, what drew me there was a Google search for images with fields of lavender and I came across Kathleen Elsey. Wow. Her use of color in an impressionistic manner just blew me away. I love her vision and the sense of liveliness and motion in her paintings. Way cool balance of color too. It makes me want to dye some wool and card a special color blend for a big sweater!
Sally and Zeke
The second artist is one I found on this gallery's site, and if I didn't mention it before, I very much like their taste in art! So the second artist is William Rushton. The humor and the effective use of so much color in a small space is incredible! His subjects are whimsical and his paintings just make me smile clear through to the gut!
So there is some reason to all this blog-surfing after all. You just might find your next source of inspiration. OK, but I swear that that's my story from now on!
Happy weekend, my lovelies!
