I just finished some layouts with which I'm really pleased. They're for a book in the ABC Round Robin I'm doing with others from the alteredbooks Yahoo group.
Here's the yellow layout all prepped and ready to be worked on. I was really tickled pink (or yellow!) with the results. I gessoed the pages and then put about an eighth of an inch of the blending solution for Ranger Alcohol Inks in the bottom of a 2 ounce plastic deli cup. (You get condiments in these when you order a sandwich to go from a deli. I buy them at Smart & Final and love them for mixing slightly larger quantities of paint than a palette will comfortably handle.) Then I put 6 drops of Butterscotch ink in, dipped in my brush, a natural bristle mop, and dusted it all over the gessoed surface. It looks really terrific.
Here is one of the layouts, the letter B, which is a pop-up. The other letter I chose was Z. I need to take a better overall photo of it for you.
Our Aussie participant, Sue, is doing V and E for every book and Kellie had done C and K, so I got to choose any other letter I wanted because I was the first to work in her book! The images were cut out of an old Vanity Fair magazine I had laying around. The ads provide great photos.
I can't believe I haven't posted in nearly a week! I always want to have photos to show you so I think I'll wait until I bring the camera back from the workroom and then I don't bring it out here to the computer, so no postings. :( Sorry.
Also, last week I met up with the lovely Kathleen from my abc_decos Yahoo group at Borders when the girls and I celebrated our Ollie's birthday. I didn't show the photo from that, either, so here she is now, showing off her Tom Swifty book that I thought was finished and a HOMER (a book that's been completed and is thus ready to go home). A Tom Swifty is a saying such as: '"I can take photographs!" Tom snapped.' where the verb or an adverb refers to the subject of the statement attributed to 'Tom'.
So that's it for today, my lovelies. Tune in again tomorrow when I'll bring you the letter Z!
