Someone Whose Work I Admire... Jessica Wesolek

I thought I'd share about someone I've admired for a while, Jessica Wesolek. I first came across her at the first Art Unraveled that I attended, in 2005. She had all these wonderful CDs in a booth in the shopping extravaganza and I just had to buy them all! I bought a sample package of her papers too. I didn't know much about Mixed Media at the time, except that it was the most exciting art I had seen in a long time and I felt inspired to acquire everything and to try it all! Anyway, those purchases led me to her website and her 'Zines.

I love every product I've bought from Jessica. I don't know her. We've exchanged a couple of emails based on purchases I've made or my subscriptions to her online 'Zines, but we're not really acquainted. I don't really have a stake in promoting Jessica, her website, or her products, except that I wanted to share my thoughts about her and them!

She's a wonderfully sharing person who isn't just out there to grab a piece of the pie that is being generated by people's interest in Mixed Media Art and all of it's components. You can learn as much in a few hours reading her website for free as you can taking a workshop for which you've paid good money! Her website by the way is http://www.cre8it.com/. Say it out loud: Cre-eight-it. Create it!

As you can see above, Jessica does YouTube videos too. I suggest that you go over there to watch her video tutorials (search for jwesolek), mark them as favorites, and then subscribe to jwesolek's videos so that you don't miss one. Then go to Cre8it.com and buy some Sheer Heaven. It really is. And while you are there, read the sample issue of Now What?

And did I mention that she's a gifted teacher? Jessica has three instructional CDs now that will teach you all you need to know about PhotoShop and PhotoShop Elements. She's got a MAC slant but I don't hold that against her and you won't either because her instructions work for both Mac and PC. She puts her lessons in a context we, as mixed media artists, can understand and use right away in our work without having to bridge what we learned with what we need or want to do.

Go. Surf. Shop. Subscribe. I'm telling you, you'll be glad to make her online acquaintance.

Maybe one of these days, we'll meet up at one of her art retreats in Santa Fe!

I 'know' Jessica's web site too. I bought some of her stamps via mail order a couple of years ago and she was very helpful. Her stamps were some of the first I bought. Great fun to use too. Like you, Marilyn, I don't have a stake in her company - I just love her helpful manner and her 'zines. :o)
